Closer than a Brother

I've only ever had two close friends who actually went to school with me. The first was in middle school, and we lost contact after he left the school. The second was in high school. In 9th grade we didn't pay much attention to each other, but as the 'clique' dwindled we became closer and closer, and now are the best of friends. I realized during a school trip what a true friend he really was.

We both have trust issues, and are both quite shy. We've learned that we're good friends for eachother because we never give our own secrets away, so we're good at keeping eachothers'. On that school trip he told me the biggest secret he'd ever kept, and even though it was revealed to others later in the year, it meant so much to me. He'd kept that secret from me for about two years, and to think that he trusted me enough to tell me was overwhelming.

When he told me, I asked him why he decided to finally tell me.
His answer?
"You."


About the picture: The fleabitten orange is a character I made for Pinki a couple years ago, and one that has evolved quite a bit. I never gave him a unicorn name, though, so I just call him Pinki. The blue is one you know and love, my beloved self, Cy'ra.

I spent longer on this picture than I have on any digital painting ever. It is also larger than any painting I've ever done on the computer. Before I knew about the star brushes, I did all those stars by hand, and though the anatomy isn't perfect, I love the poses here, especially Pinki's.

People think that if you love a boy when you're sixteen, you love him in 'that way.' When the truth is, Pinki is my brother in Christ, and I love him more than anything.
