Cheesy's contest ended up taking precedence cause she's waiting for it to judge, and I really wanted to put my entry in. Because realism has been nicer to me than cartoonism, I started it over again (although with the same color ideas I'd originally had)

If you were curious: the mom is an amber buckskin (champagne on top of a cream on bay) and the dad is a tobiano chocolate palomino. Sakura will be a tobiano ivory (her ivory parts later turn pink. That's for Cheesey to figure out) and then half freisian Nero, a plain ol bay. He's out of the buckskin but with a different sire.

EDIT: Yes! I finished it! I basically spat in procrastination's face, because that background was hell, but I finished it anyways.

So! The story! Well, Sakura's band is a regular little mustang band. No special stuff. It's up to *EvilCheese2 on the story behind sakura turning pink.

The stallion on the right is Diego. He's very spanishy, conformation-wise, but he's got a soft heart underneath. He's a chocolate palomino minimal tobiano. (2 chestnut, 1 cream, 1 tobiano)
The mare in front is Sakura's dam, Alondra. She's a real motherly sort, and has the usual stocky and surefooted mustang physique. She's an amber buckskin, with a silvery cream coat and brown legs. (1 chestnut, 1 black, 1 bay, 1 cream, 1 champagne).
The bay in the back is the lovable little half-breed Nero. He was sired by a different stallion, a black purebred freisian. As you can see, even at two years old Nero is nearly as big as his mother. Diego will probably drive him away in the next year as Nero nears maturity.

And of course, the little foal in front is Sakura! She is an ivory champagne tobiano. Her white is what you see white on her as an adult, and what will turn pink is the near-white creamy pink you can see on the creamy parts. If she wasn't tobiano, her whole body would be that color. She has blue eyes and mottled pink and gray skin. The other three horses have brown or amber eyes and black or gray skin.

Favorite parts: Diego's body, Alondra's mane.
